안녕하세요

Hello there. How are things going with you?

I got home last night from a very short trip to South Korea. It was FUN!!!! I'm glad i decided to come. At first i was a bit hesitated to tag along with my mum & her friends. After all the hoopla i feel bad to even THINK about going for a vacation, let alone going overseas. But, like mum just being my mum, she was upset when i turned down her invitation and got quiet a bit angry. I guess she just tired to see myself lock in my room. So i decided to go. Alhamdulillah for my mum. She can be a pain in the *ss but she's my pain in the *ss.

So we departed from Soekarno-Hatta International airport at 11.45 PM. I was a bit nervy about going to the airport and yet i almost got a melt down just being in the International terminal. But, Allah is there to calm me down also with a little bit of pep talk from a dear friend, everything turn out alright.

The flight from Jakarta to Incheon took 6,5 hours. I can't sleep at all. Ugh, it was annoying. So i just tried to watch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty but i was to tired to finished it. We got to Incheon International Airport and was greeted by the local tour guide. She was this tiny little thing and full of energy. She's an Indonesian that been living in Seoul for fifteen years, married to a Korean.

I wasn't really expecting anything from this trip. I must say i was sceptical. I knew a little about South. Their fascination with Ginseng, plastic surgery and boy & girl band dancing to a catchy tune. Yes, the stereotyping was there but South Korea turn out to be better than i expected.

For those who know me, i have an obsession with all things cute. Some view it as a bit childish act, but i love to collect things that a five year old have in their bedroom. South Korea, especially Seoul are filled with those kind of stuff. I was hooked.

It was one great trip, i'm too lazy to write down all the detail but there are the highlights of the trip i want to share.
1. I got to see Cherry Blossom and Tulips. Crossed that off my bucket list.

2. We had this amazing lunch in the village. They served a smoked fish and it was delicious. The owner were this couple that walking around while we were eating. Amazing is when i look at one of the wall, there was a Halal sign which is very surprising because we were in the middle of a village. After we finished our meal, i was helping my mum putting on her boots. The lace were to complicated so i kneel down helping her tying it off. Out of no where the lady (the owner) grabbed me by the arm and said "Your beautiful" and gave a hand gesture that she want to take a picture with me. It was so hard to hold back my tears. She was a beautiful woman herself (i want her nose >.< )

3. As i rode down to the centre of Everland, two young hijabi were riding up. I locked eyes with one of the girls. She smiled and wave at me. I smiled back, feeling a bit stunned. Yes people smiled at me but not waving. It's beautiful knowing that no matter where you are, this piece of fabric that wrapped around my head remind me that the bond i have with Muslims is so strong. It's simple event but yet it still brought a smile to my face till this second.

4. A middle aged Chinese men wanted to take a picture with me and my mum. Yes, middle aged. Things just too weird to be true. You'll see the picture from in the video below.

It wasn't those life-changing trip but nonetheless it's one vacation that i deserved. I am hard on myself most of the time but that's just the way it is. Alhamdulillah, i do believe that this is one of a gift from Allah SWT and i'm thankful. Anyway, i made an amateur video about the trip but i hope it's entertaining enough.

Enjoy, dear wanderers and dreamers. Till the next post, annyeong haseyo xx
